We’re announcing a new annual awards event for contracted research staff. Attendance at this event will be via nomination from their line manager, principal investigator or mentor.
In completing your nomination please consider the potential for implicit biases to be at play. We ask all line managers to actively consider the unintended potential to use, for example, gendered adjectives in such nominations processes; and to combat this with a considered and, as far as possible, objective approach using the criteria below.
- Excellence in Research
- e.g. evidenced through papers, citations, invitations to speak, external awards etc
- Significant Contributions to their Research Team and/or Department
- e.g. evidenced through support of colleagues, leading new departmental initiatives or colloquia etc.
The competition will be judged by a panel of senior University staff chaired by Prof. Claire Warwick, PVC-Research with membership from all 3 Deputy Heads of Faculty PG (Prof. Mark Allen (Sci.), Dr Vanessa Kind (SSH) & Dr. Peter Heslin (A&H)).
The top 20 nominations, as rated by the panel, will be invited to a celebratory event, where prizes of £500 for the top rated entry and £300 for the second rated entry will be awarded. These prizes will be awarded to research staff accounts within the institution for use in developing their own careers.
